A friend of my dad’s sent this photo from the Penobscot Marine Museum. It’s the street I grew up on, from way back in the day!
Now it looks more like this. There are a lot fewer trees on the street, and the road is paved. I wonder what they were doing with that step ladder near the tree? And I wonder who those kids are?!

I loved seeing this old photo of the street! The trees lend a certain charm to it.
Isn’t it funny? Looks so different! I can even remember it looks different than 20 years ago. We used to have apple trees! Now we have full grown birch. Time flies!
Dear Emily,
Thanks for writing a great blog! I like the variety of your posts. I am also from Maine and still live here. I grew up on Cushing Island in Casco Bay.
I visited Dublin in 2005, did the typical tour (Guinness brewery, Trinity College, etc.) but didn’t really get to discover the cool stuff you don’t hear about.
Questions: Are you an artist, too? How did you gain attention and sponsorship for your blog? How did your agreement to contribute to poppytalk come about?
I am just getting started with my blog, working as an artist, networking, etc., so any insight would be really helpful!
Have a lovely day!
Cheers,
Becky
