For as long as I can remember, my mother-in-law has hung empty jam jars in the garden for candles to light the summer nights.
Turns out, my father-in-law isn’t such a fan. He seemed skeptical when I told him they were actually pretty trendy.
Not that trendy is a reason to like anything, of course! I still can’t get on board with chevron stripes, no matter how design-y they are!
But just for the record.
{pretty, trendy mason jars from here}
Or, lots, lots more over here.
Just saying.

So simple and so beautiful (and reusable too?). There’s something about candle light on a summer night.
Very pretty and, depending on what you use, can be completely eco-friendly! I’ve been seeing these all over lately on the internet and love the trend.
Emily, Lois’s Cheevers’s jam jars just don’t look the same. Jerome
I LOVE Mason jars! I have a couple colored ones from the US (blue and purple) and I’ve always wanted to start a collection. My favorite use for the blue Mason jar is putting daffodils in it in the spring. I’m also loving the current trend of baking things in jars.
From the real lois, not the jerome that uses her email/facebook rather than getting his own–OF COURSE you can’t beat a Mason jar for hundreds of uses [even actual canning of fruits and veg] but when in IRELAND one must get creative for what are in abundance on a farm in Momence, Illinois are non-existant on this side of the pond. Hence necessity is the mother of invention and glad that at least Emily can appreciate my attempts–I still like my little hanging jars even if hubby doesn’t share enthusiasm. @Eva–do you mean I may have been part of Starting a trend not following one???
